Filipino Values Month: Value the People Around You

https://www.eaglenews.ph/filipino-values-month/
Filipinos have a lot of values such as saying “po” or “opo” to the elders as a sign of respect, “bayanihan” (Volunteerism), “damayan” (Helping one another), “pagkamatapat” (Loyalty), “pakikisama” (Comradeship), “matulungin” (Helpful), “bukas ang palad” (Philanthropic), “hiya” (Loss of face and prestige), “utang na loob” (Debt of gratitude), “sariling sikap” (Self-reliance) and more. They value and respect each other and also the foreigners around them.

Filipino culture is very unique because there are various traditions that only Filipinos have it. Through the centuries and through interactions with peoples of different cultures, Filipinos have acquired patience, filial piety, close family ties, business acumen, etc., integrating them into their way of life.

These values mirror the Filipino people’s rich heritage of history and culture. They manifest the things in life. With these values, Filipinos have coped with the mutability of life. One value that has not been emphasized in our people’s education is Isang dugo, one blood, one race, referring to our common origin in the past. This is one beautiful and endearing value that we must teach our children to help preserve the unity of our nation.

Month of November as Filipino Values Month. Let us celebrate Filipino Values every day of the year. This will help us keep ourselves together as one people of one blood.
